Formerly known as MOFAS: Minnesota Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome

Exciting News
from MOFAS

If you're looking for the Minnesota Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (MOFAS) you have come to the right place. We have some exciting news about our organization. We have a new name! MOFAS has officially been renamed Proof Alliance. Our mission remains the same: to prevent prenatal alcohol exposure and to improve the quality of life for people living with fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD).

Why PR%F

We now have the proof that prenatal alcohol exposure is a leading cause of brain injury in children. We have the proof that FASD is 100% preventable and people living with an FASD can reach 100% of their potential.

Why Alliance?

We seek to build powerful alliances with people with an FASD, their families, legislators, experts in the field, new partners, and community members to bring awareness, research, and services to this field.

What's Next?

Proof Alliance is rebranding, expanding, and we're moving! We have a new logo, website, and prevention campaign to help change the norms around drinking during pregnancy. And in May 2019 we will be moving to a stand-alone building. Proof Alliance commits to the people of Minnesota and we will continue to develop transformative programs to help Minnesotans impacted by FASD.

MOFAS Summer Family Retreat 2013 – Brainerd

This summer you have 2 weekends to choose from: June 28-July 1, or July 26-29. MOFAS Summer Family Retreat 2013 will take place in Brainerd, just 150 miles northwest of the Twin Cities. We have collaborated with Confidence Learning Center to provide a safe and fun weekend experience. Please choose one retreat to attend this year so that we can have room for all families to join the fun!

First-time families will be given registration priority until May 30th for the 1st session and June 27th the 2nd session.

No previous camping experience required!

This is a FAMILY experience, so all children must be supervised and attended to by responsible family or outside adults. No children will be allowed to participate without a responsible person present at each activity. Activities are family oriented, noncompetitive and team spirited. Families may choose to bring balls, sidewalk chalk, jump ropes, games, etc…for cabin activities. This is a great way to foster stronger families, build networks and meet other families.

This camp weekend is only open to families living with an FASD.

All activities and experiences are planned with the needs of individuals with an FASD in mind. MOFAS will again be providing training to all Learning Center Staff about FASD and what that means to an individual and a family.

Suggested donation:

  • $250/family of 5
  • $20 per additional person

While we strive to make family retreats  affordable for everyone, the actual cost is about $100 per person.  Your donation covers a meal each day, lodging and  activities. Thank you for any contribution you can make.

About the camp:

This is not a “roughing it” camping experience! We will be staying in fully modernized cabins, with kitchens, dining rooms, bathrooms, ceiling fans, gas fire places, and running water! You will have a private room and share the living area.

Activities include:

  • campfires,
  • networking for parents
  • a nature center
  • hayrides
  • feeding the animals
  • games
  • crafts
  • glass bottom boat
  • swimming
  • fishing
  • 60 ft tree climb etc.

All activities are adapted for any level of participation.
Check out the camp’s website to see all the cool stuff they do!
