If you're looking for the Minnesota Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (MOFAS) you have come to the right place. We have some exciting news about our organization. We have a new name! MOFAS has officially been renamed Proof Alliance. Our mission remains the same: to prevent prenatal alcohol exposure and to improve the quality of life for people living with fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD).

Why PR%F

We now have the proof that prenatal alcohol exposure is a leading cause of brain injury in children. We have the proof that FASD is 100% preventable and people living with an FASD can reach 100% of their potential.

Why Alliance?

We seek to build powerful alliances with people with an FASD, their families, legislators, experts in the field, new partners, and community members to bring awareness, research, and services to this field.

What's Next?

Proof Alliance is rebranding, expanding, and we're moving! We have a new logo, website, and prevention campaign to help change the norms around drinking during pregnancy. And in May 2019 we will be moving to a stand-alone building. Proof Alliance commits to the people of Minnesota and we will continue to develop transformative programs to help Minnesotans impacted by FASD.

You’re invited

It’s that time of year again. We have some very important legislative priorities and we’ll need your help to spread the word to your legislators. MOFAS FASD Prevention Grantees Announced

public awareness grant MOFAS is committed to preventing FASD. In doing so, MOFAS awarded grant funding to 20 organizations across Minnesota to host a community event to share education about the dangers of drinking alcohol while pregnant and the 049 prevention message. From fun baby showers, 04.9K run/walks, student activities, Mocktail Wars, and more, all events aim to reach and educate underserved and at-risk communities. Arc Northland Support Services

The Arc Northland

With funding from a MOFAS grant, The Arc Northland offers support and education for families who have children with emotional/behavioral disabilities. All groups are open and confidential. Their young adult group is a skills group for transition-age youth (ages 14-25) who have an FASD. The Y.A.C. group will cover a variety of topics, from social skills to communication, money management, meal planning, and more. This is great preparation for young adults transitioning from school to adult life. Be sure to check out these events online.

Baxter (The Dog) Circle of Support for teens and young adults

Baxter Join us for a monthly support group for teens and young adults (ages 16-25) with an FASD (or suspected). This facilitated group is an opportunity to hang out and connect with other youth who understand the challenges of FASD. Be yourself, have fun, share your successes and worries in a safe and supportive environment. Limit 8 participants. Please note: Participants may receive “support” from Baxter the dog.

Circle of Hope Support Group

Circle of Hope Support Group The Circle of Hope (COH) Support Group is a network of women who have used alcohol and/or drugs during pregnancy. Together, we provide support in overcoming the stigma of addiction and FASD. We provide information, resources, hope, and support. A light lunch will be provided. Please RSVP so we can plan accordingly. Childcare is available on a limited basis upon request. Transportation may also be available on request. View our calendar for more details.

Health Care Professionals Training – Webinar

FASD day at the capitolPlease join MOFAS for a two-part webinar series featuring Mark A. Sloane, DO, FACOP, FAAP, a founding member of the Children’s Trauma Assessment Center at Western Michigan University. Dr. Sloane will present on “Using the Intersection of Genetics, Prenatal Drug/Alcohol Exposure, and Toxic Traumatic Stress to Develop Resilient, Trauma-informed Communities”. Continuing Medical Education credits are available for physicians.

Northern Minnesota FASD Peer Support Group- Grand Rapids

Come for support and discussion about the joys, stresses, questions, and challenges we face raising children (infant through adult) with known or suspected Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD). All parents, foster parents, legal guardians, and other kinship caregivers are welcome. Follow-up meetings will be scheduled based on participant preference. Group meets the first Wednesday of the month from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Itasca Resource Center (IRC), 1209 SE 2nd Ave, Room 239, Grand Rapids, MN 55744.
