If you're looking for the Minnesota Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (MOFAS) you have come to the right place. We have some exciting news about our organization. We have a new name! MOFAS has officially been renamed Proof Alliance. Our mission remains the same: to prevent prenatal alcohol exposure and to improve the quality of life for people living with fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD).

Why PR%F

We now have the proof that prenatal alcohol exposure is a leading cause of brain injury in children. We have the proof that FASD is 100% preventable and people living with an FASD can reach 100% of their potential.

Why Alliance?

We seek to build powerful alliances with people with an FASD, their families, legislators, experts in the field, new partners, and community members to bring awareness, research, and services to this field.

What's Next?

Proof Alliance is rebranding, expanding, and we're moving! We have a new logo, website, and prevention campaign to help change the norms around drinking during pregnancy. And in May 2019 we will be moving to a stand-alone building. Proof Alliance commits to the people of Minnesota and we will continue to develop transformative programs to help Minnesotans impacted by FASD.

Lucky you, here are some delicious alcohol-free recipes you can enjoy this St. Patrick’s Day!

Peppermint Patty Green Monster

Peppermint Patty Green Monster

Serves: 1

Ingredients:

  • 1 large frozen banana1 cup non-dairy milk
  • A handful of fresh mint leaves, stems removed
  • 1 to 2 handfuls of spinach
  • 1/4 teaspoon peppermint extract (optional)
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons chopped dark chocolate, for garnish

Directions:
Add in all of the ingredients except the chocolate into a blender and blend until smooth. Adjust to taste and serve with a garnish of chopped dark chocolate and mint leaves. Enjoy with a spoon.

Lemon Basil Daiquiri

Lemon Basil Daiquiri

Serves: 1

Ingredients:

  • 4 basil leaves
  • Juice of 1 large lemon
  • 1 tablespoon sugar (or sugar alternative, such as stevia)
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • Ice

Directions:
Combine all ingredients in a powerful blender and blend until smooth.

Sparkling Cucumber Limeade

Sparkling Cucumber Limeade

Serves: 4-6

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sugar (or sugar alternative such as stevia)
  • 1 tablespoon lime zest
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup fresh mint leaves
  • 1 cup lime juice
  • 1 medium cucumber, halved and thinly sliced
  • 2 cups sparkling water, chilled

Directions:

  1. Combine the sugar, lime zest and water in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a simmer, stirring constantly, until the sugar is dissolved. Remove from the heat and stir in the mint leaves. Let sit for 30 minutes.
  2. Strain the lime syrup through a fine mesh sieve. Combine the syrup with the lime juice and cucumber. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour. When ready to serve, add in the sparkling water. Serve over ice.
