I learned about this stat earlier this week when I was researching for a post on my personal page:

According to multiple different sources, the alcohol industry spends at AT LEAST 1-2 BILLION dollars a year on advertising. And most of that advertising is focused on young people and on highlighting how fun, cool, and carefree drinking is. There’s also a huge emphasis on how “healthy” alcohol can be if you drink organic or in low moderation. (It’s a crock of shit, no type or amount of alcohol is good for you — moderation is great, but drinking alcohol will never benefit your body.)

Alcohol is also one of the most common “product placement” advertisements you’ll see — brands and specific companies will show up in TV shows, movies, and being endorsed by celebrities. You’ll see booze at huge events — sponsored concerts, community experiences, and public festivals. You’ll see Big Alcohol back claims that drinking can be good for you, binge-drinking is only a problem for “alcoholics,” and ignore the undeniable proof that states drinking is addictive and unhealthy, no matter how much you drink.

With all that excessive money and energy spent on convincing us that alcohol is not something to worry about, it’s no wonder our society has a drinking problem. Big Alcohol is responsible for perpetuating dangerous rhetoric and downright harmful misinformation that leads to our society’s problematic relationship with alcohol.

It’s important to remember that no alcohol is “healthy,” and anyone that is trying to convince you otherwise is trying to sell you something. Most likely booze.

As the Summer drifts into Autumn and the nights begin to take on a blush hue… the scent of Japanese Dog Rose in its last bloom fills the air.
Paired with Chamomile it soothes and calms, ready for that slower pace through the cooler months.

The buzziest drinks these days in the United Arab Emirates won’t give you a hangover.

Menus at luxury hotel bars and Michelin-starred restaurants are increasingly featuring visually dazzling, nonalcoholic cocktails made with sophisticated gastronomic techniques and attention to detail—and prices to match.

Tap the link in bio to learn more about six places in the UAE with a notable nonalcoholic cocktail scene.
According to Nielsen data, the no- and low-ABV sector has grown an impressive 506% since 2015, and annual growth for the category is expected to hit 7.1% by 2025.

What does this mean?

It means that more people are requesting, interested in, and actually buying non-alcoholic beverages! And while NA drinks may not be for everyone (and that’s totally fine), the fact that they are booming in growth is a great sign. It means that not drinking is becoming more mainstream and normalized. It means that we are a little bit closer to a world where people don’t give you a funny look when you say, “I don’t drink alcohol.”

There are still a lot of issues in our society regarding alcohol use, but it’s important to remember how far we’ve come, too.

So, let’s raise an alcohol-free glass to progress — we deserve it.

‘Luxury Garden Baby’

I used:
15ml Ginger Cordial
30ml Ruby Grapefruit Cordial
30ml Lime Juice
120ml luxury sparkling water
Dash of angostura house bitters

Place all ingredients (except the luxury water) into a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously until combined. Add the luxury water and stir well until combined.

Double strain into very glamorous glassware, serve on a ridiculously luxe silver platter and over style + garnish with the most fabulous seasonal flowers you can find x
