Formerly known as MOFAS: Minnesota Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome

Exciting News
from MOFAS

If you're looking for the Minnesota Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (MOFAS) you have come to the right place. We have some exciting news about our organization. We have a new name! MOFAS has officially been renamed Proof Alliance. Our mission remains the same: to prevent prenatal alcohol exposure and to improve the quality of life for people living with fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD).

Why PR%F

We now have the proof that prenatal alcohol exposure is a leading cause of brain injury in children. We have the proof that FASD is 100% preventable and people living with an FASD can reach 100% of their potential.

Why Alliance?

We seek to build powerful alliances with people with an FASD, their families, legislators, experts in the field, new partners, and community members to bring awareness, research, and services to this field.

What's Next?

Proof Alliance is rebranding, expanding, and we're moving! We have a new logo, website, and prevention campaign to help change the norms around drinking during pregnancy. And in May 2019 we will be moving to a stand-alone building. Proof Alliance commits to the people of Minnesota and we will continue to develop transformative programs to help Minnesotans impacted by FASD.

Minnesota Care Counseling Services

Among other services, Minnesota Care Counseling Services has a contract with Hennepin County to provide out-of-home respite care to people with autism or related conditions, including FASD. They have 4 respite beds for youth ages 6-16.  The organization takes an intercultural approach; while much of the population they serve is East African, they are welcoming all families in need of respite. The respite care home is located in Bloomington, Minnesota.

From their website: Minnesota Care Counseling Services, Inc. is a community agency with the mission to provide comprehensive quality and culturally appropriate support options for individuals with complex conditions to facilitate community living and attain independence and personal growth. As an agency, we believe that services must be clinically and culturally appropriate, client centered and family driven, supporting the health and safety of the people that we serve.

Minnesota Care Counseling Services, Inc. was established in 2014 to serve the East African immigrant and refugee population, with current certification as an ARMHS provider and Adult Day Treatment provider pending with the Minnesota Department of Human Services.  Minnesota Care Counseling Services, Inc currently provides Independently Living Skills (ILS) services to individuals, specifically from the Somali and East African population in several counties.

Their services include:

  • Home and community-based services (including respite care)
