7th annual FASD matters conference
We hope you can join us as the Minnesota Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (MOFAS) presents the 7th Annual FASD Matters Conference: The Brain. The conference will bring together experts, key stakeholders, and families. Over three days there will be a pre-conference, keynote presentations, and breakout sessions on the latest research, promising strategies, and innovative programs related to fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD). Arrive early for an intensive conference learning experience. This pre-conference session will focus on the intersection of FASD, the criminal justice system, and the courts. Presenters will cover a diverse range of topics designed to educate attendees on implications for the courts when working with people on the fetal alcohol spectrum. Through a series of panel discussions, a review of high-profile case studies, and discussion of lessons learned in the field, attendees will leave this session with a deeper understanding of the implications for courts and practical tools and strategies.
The FASD Matters Pre-Conference Institute: The Brain on Trial will be on Wednesday, November 7, 2018. Registration for the FASD matters Annual Conference does not automatically include registration for the Pre-Conference Institute. Attendees have the option to register for the Pre-Conference and Conference, or you can register for the conference separately. Registration for this special event is extremely limited and will only be open to the first 100 registrants.

The networking reception is a time for the FASD community to join together and share triumphs, stories, and have fun. We hope you can join us on Thursday, November 8, 2018 for an wonderful evening. More details still to come.

Registered attendees will receive a password to access the conference breakout session handouts. You may access the breakout session handouts here and enter the password when you get to the page. Handouts received will not be available until November 2018.
Register online for $125 per person. Registration will be accepted through October 31, 2018 and includes admission to all sessions, program materials, refreshment breaks, continental breakfast and lunch, and a certificate of attendance. On-site registration will be allowed as space allows.

Tickets for networking reception are free and open to all. Registration is required. Conference participants are encouraged to come.
Prior to the conference, participants will receive an email confirming their registration. This email will also contain a password to access conference handouts online. Handouts will be available through December 31, 2018.
Paid registrants that cancel their registration prior to October 15, 2018 will receive a full refund. No refunds will be processed after October 15, 2018.
There are a limited number of partial scholarships to attend the 7th annual FASD matters conference.
Scholarships are exclusively for people in Minnesota with an FASD and their family members with financial barriers to attending the conference November 8 - 9, 2018. A limited number of tickets are available for the pre-conference institute. Scholarships are not available for professional development. Scholarship decisions will be prioritized on financial need. Not all applicants will receive a scholarship.
The priority deadline to submit applications is 6:00 p.m. on Friday, August 10, 2018. Applications submitted after the due date may not be considered. Scholarship decisions will be communicated by Friday, August 24 via phone and email. Confirmation of attendance is required by Friday, September 7 or the scholarship may be reassigned.
Awarded scholarship recipients must submit their contribution to MOFAS via credit card, check, or cash no later than Friday, October 5, 2018, to ensure participation.

The conference will be held at the Minneapolis Marriott NW, 7025 Northland Dr. N., Brooklyn Park, Minnesota and is located just north of 694 and west of Boone Ave.
Continuing Education Credits (CEUs)
The conference is designed to meet the Continuing Education Hours credits for many disciplines: psychology, social work, education, nursing, marriage and family therapy, behavioral health, licensed alcohol and drug counselors, and attorneys. Certificates of attendance will be available to conference participants. More information on the status of Continuing Education Credits will be provided as it becomes available.
MOFAS will apply to the following certification boards or accrediting organizations for CEU's:
- Minnesota Board of Social Work
- Minnesota Board of Psychology
- Minnesota Board of Continuing Legal Education
- Minnesota Board of Behavioral Health

There will be access to a nursing room on November 8th and 9th.
All sessions are filled on a first-come basis. Some sessions may reach capacity. If you see a sign on the door indicating the session is full, please select another session.
