Formerly known as MOFAS: Minnesota Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome

Exciting News
from MOFAS

If you're looking for the Minnesota Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (MOFAS) you have come to the right place. We have some exciting news about our organization. We have a new name! MOFAS has officially been renamed Proof Alliance. Our mission remains the same: to prevent prenatal alcohol exposure and to improve the quality of life for people living with fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD).

Why PR%F

We now have the proof that prenatal alcohol exposure is a leading cause of brain injury in children. We have the proof that FASD is 100% preventable and people living with an FASD can reach 100% of their potential.

Why Alliance?

We seek to build powerful alliances with people with an FASD, their families, legislators, experts in the field, new partners, and community members to bring awareness, research, and services to this field.

What's Next?

Proof Alliance is rebranding, expanding, and we're moving! We have a new logo, website, and prevention campaign to help change the norms around drinking during pregnancy. And in May 2019 we will be moving to a stand-alone building. Proof Alliance commits to the people of Minnesota and we will continue to develop transformative programs to help Minnesotans impacted by FASD.

Addiction & Treatment

Proof Alliance has a wide variety of resources for women who drank and/or used drugs during their pregnancy. We are here to help remove the stigma and blame associated with FASD and provide the supports and resources for you and your family.

Concerned About Your Drinking

While avoiding alcohol use during pregnancy may seem like a simple action to some, it is not always that easy for everyone. This is especially true for a person struggling with an alcohol addiction. Some individuals need extra help to abstain from alcohol when they are pregnant. Find resources to help with addiction and treatment.

Women in Recovery

Proof Alliance offers Changing Course as an informational, educational and supportive series for women who drank alcohol and/or used drugs during their pregnancy. This 8 part educational series discusses many of the issues that women who drank alcohol and/or used drugs during their pregnancy face. Find out more about the Changing Course series.

Domestic Violence

Proof Alliance collaborates with domestic violence organizations across Minnesota, to provide education and information about prenatal alcohol and drug exposure, and how to recognize and support women and children in their programs.  Proof Alliance offers training for staff, as well as monthly education groups for the women in their program. Find out where we offer these programs.

Treatment/Recovery Training

Proof Alliance provides training for clients that are in treatment and recovery programs. The training includes information and education to both women and men, about the possible consequences of drinking alcohol and/or using drugs while pregnant. Find out how to request a training for your facility.

Birth Mom Panel

Proof Alliance supports women who used alcohol and/or drugs during their pregnancy, and are now facing the challenges of parenting a child with an FASD. The Birth Mothers Network are women who serve as mentors to one another, and support one another in recovery. Collectively, they seek to overcome the stigmatism of alcoholism, addiction and FASD. Find out more about the Birth Mom Panel.

Circle of Hope Support Groups

Proof Alliance hopes to “shed the shame and blame” by providing specific support groups for women who have used alcohol and/or drugs during pregnancy.  Together, these women support one another in overcoming the stigmatism of alcoholism, addiction and FASD, as well as offering hope and encouragement as they face the challenges of parenting. Find a support group near you.
