Fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD) occur in up to 5% of school-aged children. Prevent prenatal alcohol exposure and care for those diagnosed with FASD by joining The SAFEST Choice National Learning Collaborative.
FASD Training for Health Care Teams
The SAFEST Choice National Learning Collaborative aims to reduce the incidence of prenatal alcohol exposure (PAE) and improve outcomes in children with suspected or diagnosed FASD. This program, a partnership between Proof Alliance and Boston Medical Center, will host the next training for health care professionals on July 29 and 30 at the Medical Society of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia.
Through this 2-day, in-person training, participants will gain the skills to
- Effectively screen for prenatal alcohol exposure using a patient-centered approach
- Assess for and identify FASD in your patients
- Care for patients with an FASD within your medical home using evidence-informed interventions
- Help patients and their families build community-based supports
The training is free, with free continuing education credits available (physicians, nurses, social workers, psychologists).
Registration is open for all members of health care teams serving pediatric patients. Space is limited!
